Not THAT critical

I found this little gem in a big bag of miscellaneous electronic parts my mom had come across somewhere and given me.

It is a fuse with an attached disbursement ticket. If you zoom in you will notice this was issued and stamped “critical” on January 7, 1977. The bag is unopened and the fuse is in perfect condition. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that it wasn’t THAT critical…

Restoring from backups

My main server suffered a hardware failure that ultimately led to the loss of integrity on the main RAID5 array. Luckily I maintain good backups of almost everything. While I am busy restoring all the services some of the links on this blog may not work. In particular I am still restoring my code repositories. There is nothing like disaster to hone your sys admin skills.

Today was my last day at Scottrade. Monday I start a new career at IntraISP. My position is much the same, managing a small team of Linux Admins, but the environment is different. The pay is also better. Go me.
