Basement progress

Monday, March 10th, 2008

The drywall is almost all hung, only the insides of the bathroom and stairway to go. With the lure of my wife’s famous pancakes I was able to con Mike from work over Saturday to help me. Thanks Mike!

How not to hang drywall

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

A nice gentleman from the Wentzville Fire Department signed off on my plan and framing, yay! Here is a look at some of the framing before I got started hanging drywall.

Getting the drywall down to the basement proved to be quite the adventure. My basement is not a walk-out and the stairs bend 180°. With much bending (of me) and exertion I was able to just barely get a 48″x90″ piece down the stairs. This is quite exhausting as you can imagine.

From the top… …and bottom

The Good Lord has blessed me with many talents but hanging drywall is not one of them. I am hoping for the best when it is all said and done. One joint in particular turned out really badly. Surely it will improve as I go along? =)

Basement update

Monday, March 3rd, 2008

Tomorrow is hopefully my last inspection before I can start covering the walls in SheetRock. =) As you can imagine I am about to go crazy with the lack of a place to tinker for the last several months. It will all be worth it when my shiny new workshop is up and going.

I’ll get some pictures of my second-rate carpentry up some day.

Basement update

A little change in plans. The open area under the stairs is now a closet and the bathroom was shrunk to make room for a wet bar.
